Your body knows what it needs to heal, and it’s our job to listen! At Linden & Arc Vitality Institute, we use Autonomic Response Testing (ART) to evaluate your body and determine what stressors are interfering with your quality of life.
Not Just the Physical!
We commonly focus on only the physical, but often true healing and balance cannot occur when we do not account for all levels of healing. ART addresses all levels of your health and illness, including mental, energetic, intuitive, spiritual, and physical, so that we can respond to all imbalances.
With ART, we look at the overall health of the Autonomic Nervous System. When this system is stressed, healing can become complicated, and illness often occurs.
Understanding the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS)
We may already be very aware of the Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS) which allows for rest, repair, digestion, and rejuvenation of our system. We breathe, meditate, and slow down to tap into our PNS. And, the Sympathetic Nervous System (SNS), which is our fight, flight, freeze, and fawn response system.
Now for some more learning about nervous systems! Your Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) is the part of your nervous system that functions automatically without any thought. It controls involuntary physiologic processes such as your heartbeat, digestion, blood pressure, detoxification, and brain function.
Many stressors inside and outside your body can interfere with proper ANS functioning.
These stressors could be:
- Infections – bacteria, viruses, parasites, fungi
- Environmental toxins
- Hormonal imbalances
- Neurotransmitter imbalances
- Dental issues
Some ANS disorders include chronic pain, Parkinson’s, and Lyme Disease. Unhealed trauma, repressed emotions, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can affect the imbalances in your ANS. Autonomic Response Testing (ART) identifies which stressors are interfering with your ANS function so we can find the treatment that will work best for you.
A biophoton field is a field of energy surrounding your body. Every DNA, protein, and cell in our body emits light in an organized parallel fashion. These light emissions make up your biofield. Your biofield carries information and memories of all the events the organism has been exposed to in the past, present, and future. When your system is under stress, a stress response is sensed, organized and expressed by the biofield of your entire body.
Organ dysfunction, injury, and visceral disease will change your biophoton emissions from being parallel to each other, to being disordered. This is called loss of coherence (loss of ability to create, send or receive coherent light). The more unwell a tissue, the less coherent its light emissions will be. Healthy cells emanate focused light like a laser, whereas sick cells emanate low amplitudes of chaotic light.
So, how do you know if you have a loss of coherence? That’s where ART comes in!
Autonomic Response Testing (ART)
ART is an advanced biofeedback physical assessment that:
- Identifies infections, toxicity, and organ imbalances
- Determines the proper remedies to clear imbalances
- Helps us to prioritize your current issues and the most effective treatments for your body in real-time
Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, MD, Ph.D., Louisa Williams, MC, DC, ND, and Yoshiaki Omura, MD, developed ART to detect when your body’s innate regulatory abilities have been compromised. Testing and correcting these processes are critical for us to receive accurate information from your body.
ART looks at your ANS and biophoton field to determine the factors that have caused your illness or disease. ART also helps your doctor or practitioner identify the remedies that will work for you. It is often used to find the hidden causes that have not been caught with other tests.
Before starting ART, your doctor will assess you for neurogenic switching and blocked regulation. This will need to be corrected before starting your ART assessment.
Everyone has electrical currents that run through their body. This means your body has positive and negative poles, like a battery. Neurogenic switching happens when the poles are reversed in your body, causing neurological disorganization. When this switch occurs, your nerve cells and brain cannot communicate effectively.
Blocked regulation occurs when your cells lose their ability to create coherent light. Coherent light is polarized, meaning it moves in a parallel manner. When your system is under stress, biophoton emissions change from being parallel to being disordered. When your cells lose this coherence and the light emitted becomes scattered, it is called blocked regulation. This means your cells no longer have the ability to communicate with each other.
How Does Autonomic Response Testing Work?
- Your doctor first tests the regulatory status of your ANS and corrects any problems with neurogenic switching and blocked regulation.
- Your doctor tests how your body reacts to various stressors, checking for interferences and imbalances.
- Muscle testing is used to test the immediate response of the ANS to stress. Your arm will be used to test for strength or weakness in your body. The doctor will push on your straightened arm, and your cells will automatically send signals where there is weakness; this will show as a change in muscle tone.
- If the neurological sensors in the area are desensitized by illness or dysfunction, touching the skin’s surface may cause a stress response. A stress response tells us that that tissue is unhealthy.
- Organ dysfunction can be detected by changes in polarity or skin resistance in the overlying tissue.
- Your doctor then tries different treatments to determine your individualized protocol to clear the stressors and restore your body’s balance.
ART allows us to discover where the issue is, what is causing the problem, and what is needed to restore balance to your body.
ART vs. Laboratory Tests
Laboratory testing is extremely valuable! At Linden and Arc Vitality Institute, we test blood, urine, stool, and saliva to help find the root cause of our patient’s symptoms. There are many times, though, when laboratory testing doesn’t give us the complete picture.
A great example of this is stool analysis for parasites. Stool tests can miss up to 40% of parasite cases. That’s a BIG number and not worth the risk when it comes to your health. ART can give us additional information about what is happening inside your body, so we can complete the picture.
Autonomic Response Testing at Linden & Arc Vitality Institute
At Linden & Arc, we genuinely care about your wellbeing. Our mission is to get to the root cause of your symptoms so you can enjoy a full life. Our highly trained Medical Doctors (MDs) and Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) understand that your body knows what it needs to heal. Our doctors believe it is their job to listen to you and your body. We are dedicated to restoring your full vitality, and Autonomic Response Testing is one of the ways we do this. We may use ART along with laboratory testing to guide and prioritize your treatments!
